Old and Traditional Way to Reach Sabarimala Ayyappa Temple:

Many thanks to kerala Government, TDB & Kerala police to provide road access till Pampa River. But During the festive, Deeksha Season of Ayyappa mala dharana Swamys, traveling by road is some what tricky.

First devotees need to know the approximate distance till Pampa River bed. Nearest Town & City is Kottayam or Chenganur. Other near by urban place is Pathanamitta, City nearest to Sabarimala is Trivandrum & cochin.

Authors Suggestion to reach Sabarimala by Road:

Kerala Transport corporation offers frequent buses from Cochin, Ernakulam, Trivandrum, Chenganur, Kottayam & Thrissur. One can reach by just boarding a KSRTC bus from these urban dwellings.

Train Route to Travel for Sabarimala Temple:

IRCTC offers excellent tour packages for traveling to Sabarimala. But when comes to reach by train it is very luxury and easy. More than 400 express and Super fast trains are allocated to railway stations near to Sabarimala.

Best way to start your Journey is to reach Kottayam, Chengannur, Ernakulam Junction, Cochin & Trivandrum. Nearest Railway station is Kottayam. Car taxi, Kerala RTC buses are very well connected till Neelikal Bustand.

How to Reach Sabarimala by Air or flight booking:

Sabarimala is a hilly pilgrim spot located on an altitude of 1.2 KM. But reaching by helicopter is not allowed directly on the hill. Nearest Airport is Trivandrum or Cochin City. From there they must reach by Road or Train.

Cochin & Trivandrum airports are well connected to all cities in India like Hyderabad, Chennai, Mumbai, Bangalore, Mangalore, Delhi, Calcutta or Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Pune etc.

Yatra Tour package duration is 7 days and nights. It is the longest tour package among all three packages.

Sabarimala Yatra Ticket price is 7600 rs for one person for super luxury bus, Indra A/C coach bus ticket is 10000 rupees per head.

Indian Railways has started to accommodate the pilgrims traveling for Sabarimala 2025-26 Season. Every year millions of devotees ­­travel In trains to reach Sabarimala. Many people will also board the special suvidha trains, weekly special trains etc and reach to the nearest railway station to Sabarimala. We after following Indian Railways Press Releases, made up a list of special trains running from Vishakapatnam, Chennai, Hyderabad or Secunderabad, Vijayawada.

Sabarimala Special Trains 2025:

Due to Covid-19 lockdown and social distancing measures current running trains between all stations were suspended. Only few selected routes are open to travel and there were no known special trains which are running to nearest sabarimala are provided by Indian Railways.

Sabarimala Special Train between Chennai Central & Kollam station In October November December & January:

Two trains named Chennai Central to Kollam Special Express, Kollam to Chennai Central Special Express running back and forth between two stations.

Trains start from Chennai central @ 08:40 PM (20:40) on alternate days from December 3 till January 14. Dates Starting from Chennai were 3, 5, 10, 12, 17, 19, 24, 26, 31 in December 2019, 2, 7, 9, 14 January 2021.

The return journey train from Kollam to Chennai Central Starts @ 03:00 PM from December 4 to January 10. Train will reach on next day morning at 09:45 AM every time. Dates starting from Kollam were 4,6,11,13,18,20 and 27, 3,8 and 10 in January 2025.

There is also a special train between Chennai & Kollam on two day December 25 and January 1. Chennai Central Suvidha Special Train no 82634 will leave kollam @ 3 PM. Chennai Kollam Suvidha Special Train 82635 will Leave Chennai Central one day only i.e January 11.

Sabarimala Special Train running between Hyderabad to Kollam:

Hyderabad Kollam suvidha special train number is 82721 & 82722 runs back & forth with these numbers. The train in scheduled to leave Hyderabad @ 3:55 PM on 17, 21, 25, 29 November. The return journey train will start from Kollam @ 3 PM on 19, 23, 27 November & 1 December respectively.

A special tollfree number was dedicated Sabarimala Pilgrims 182 and the railways opened additional IRCTC reservation counters at chengannur, Kottayam, Pampa etc. The reservation counter at pampa is functional 24X7.

Sabarimala Special Weekly Express Train from Visakhapatnam to Kollam:

This year Kollam railway station was going to be filled with Sabarimala Ayyappan Devotees. South Central Railway an East Coast Railway decided to run Special Train between Visakhapatnam & Kollam from November 17 to January 21.

Train Number 08515 will be a special weekly superfast train starts @ 23:50 PM every Sunday. The train reaches its destination kollam station on following Tuesday b7 7 AM. First trip starts from November 17 followed by 24 November, 1,8, 15, 22, 29 December & 5, 12 January.

The returning Train starts from November 19 and will continue to return at every Wednesday till January 21.
